Apple will replace your old iPhone battery for Rs 2,000 until December 31
Last December, Apple was caught in a storm after it confessed that it was slowing down the performance of older iPhone models. Apple was throttling performance of older iPhones in order to prevent random shutdowns due to strain on aging batteries. Apple not only apologised for this move, but also announced a dramatic price drop for battery replacement. This offer was meant to last through December 31, 2018. This means there are only a few days left before Apple raises the price of replacing iPhone batteries once again.
The battery replacement program that Apple announced in December last year cut down the cost of out-of-warranty battery replacement from $79 to $29 (approx Rs 1,800). This offer is valid for anyone with an iPhone SE, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Newer iPhone models like the iPhone X and XS are unlikely to see any major battery-related issue right now.
After December 31, Apple will revise the price of replacement of iPhone batteries to normal. After the offer ends, replacing the battery of an iPhone 6 or later model will cost $49 (approx Rs 3,500). For the iPhone X, Apple will charge $69 to replace the battery. Consumers can get a battery replacement for their old iPhone at Apple retail stores or Apple Authorised Service Providers.
