Government has a warning about these passport websites
The Ministry of External Affairs is warning citizens to be careful while applying or renewing their passports as there is a steady rise in fake websites that claim to offer passport related services. These fake websites not only charge exorbitant fees but also gather crucial personal data of applicants. Apart from multiple fake websites, the number of mobile applications claiming to be working with the ministry of external affairs is also on the rise.
Note that the official website for passport services is “passportindia.gov.in” (sometimes it opens as “portal2.passportindia.gov.in” but the the domain is always gov.in) while the official app is “mPassport Seva” available on both Android and iOS. While there could be many fake websites, the ministry is warning citizens about these websites.
