New Year Bonanza! Salary Hike Announced For Lakhs Of Govt Employees
New Year 2021 is just around the corner and all those waiting for a salary hike have been greeted with a double bonanza. Good news for all government employees in Telangana as the State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced to increase the salaries of all government employees as per the Pay Revision Commission recommendations. Not only this, but it has also been decided to raise the age of superannuation of these employees.
While the new pay scales and retirement age would be decided very soon, an official statement from the chief minister’s office said that the state government has also decided to fill the backlog of vacancies in all government departments soon.
The decision on salary hike, increasing the retirement age of employees from the existing 58 years, and recruitments in all government departments, has been described as New Year gifts to the employees.
According to sources, the salary hike would benefit government employees and others including Grant-in-Aid employees, daily wage employees, Home Guards, Anganwadi workers, contract employees, outsourcing staff, ASHAs, apart from those receiving honorariums and pensioners.
If all the categories are put together, there are 936976 such employees and the salary hike would be extended to all these employees, he said, according to an official release.
“In all, the salary hike would benefit 9,36,976 employees. If need be, the financial burden on the Telangana state road transport corporation (TSRTC) due to salary hike would also be borne by the state government,” the official note, quoting the chief minister mentioned.
Besides the salary hike, increasing the age of retirement, effecting promotions and transfers, formulation of simplified service rules, providing all benefits on the day of retirement to the employees and all other employee-related matters would be resolved by the end of February, KCR said.
He further stated that the recruitment process would be taken up from February next year after identifying all the vacant posts in the government.
The release stated that Rao has appointed a three-member committee, headed by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, to study all the issues concerned and hold discussions with the employees’ unions. In the first week of January, the committee would study the PRC (pay revision commission) report and hold a meeting with the employees’ unions in the next week.
Subsequently, the committee will recommend the government on the salary revision to be made, increasing the retirement age, revision of service rules, policy for promotions and strategy to be adopted to overcome legal problems for implementing zonal system and other issues.
Following this, the state cabinet would meet to make final decisions on the issues concerned, it said.
