Nokia-branded laptops may launch in India soon, reveals BIS listing
The upcoming Nokia laptops have been spotted on BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), suggesting an imminent launch. According to the listing, the laptops are manufactured by Tongfang Limited in China. The listing further reveals that the Nokia-branded laptops will be available in at least nine SKUs.
The laptop model numbers are NKi510UL82S, NKi510UL85S, NKi510UL165S, NKi510UL810S, NKi510UL1610S, NKi310UL41S, NKi310UL42S, NKi310UL82S, and NKi310UL85S, reports Nokiamob.net (via Stufflistings).
The website speculates that the prefix NK refers to Nokia and the following characters to refer to the chipset type. For instance, i3 is the Core i3 processor and i5 is Core i5. The 10S indicates the laptops will run on Windows 10 operating system. Based on the listing, there will be at least five Nokia laptop models with Intel Core i5 chipsets. Other four are going to ship with Intel Core i3 processor. It is safe to speculate the SKUs will also vary in terms of RAM and storage capacity.
In India, HMD Global sells Nokia-branded smartphones and features. Other Nokia-branded devices such as TVs and streaming box are sold by Flipkart. As of now, it is not clear whether the laptops will be sold by Flipkart or HMD Global.
That said, Nokia of yesteryears did have a computer division called Nokia Data. Back in 2009, Nokia had launched a Nokia Booklet 3G, a netbook with Windows 7 out-of-the-box. As the name implies, it also supported 3G connectivity via SIM card. The device offered Oyi Maps service and was said to deliver up to 12 hours of back up on a single charge.
