One Nation One Ration Card: Can you buy grains from other states even with old cards? Know whether it is necessary to get a new card or not
One Nation One Ration Card: ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme has been implemented in 24 states. Process is on to implement it soon in other states. Under this scheme, the ration card holder of one state can purchase food grains from other state without any restrictions. With the addition of Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand, there are now 24 states and union territories on the ration card portability platform.
After the implementation of this scheme, there is a question in the mind of the ration card holders whether they will have to get a new ration card to buy food from other states or will it work from the existing ration card itself. The government has agreed to give food grains to people under the old card under this scheme. That is, with the help of your existing ration card, you will be able to buy ration from the state which are included in this scheme.
Explain that the scheme includes Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh in addition to Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and Uttarakhand. 20 states and union territories have joined it.
If you have not yet made your ration card, then you can make it very easily. To apply for the Ration Card, you have to visit the portal of the Food and Logistics Department of your state. Different states have their own portals. In such a situation, you will have to download the ration card application form from these portals. The form has to be filled well and submitted to the nearest ration dealer or food supply office. If you are from rural area, you can submit the form to the Tehsil office.
