Vodafone has a warning for its users
NEW DELHI: Telecom operator Vodafone has issued a warning for its users. The service provider has been asking its users not to take up any calls from suspicious numbers. Also, the telecom operator is asking users to inform the company of they receive any such calls. Some of the the Vodafone users has reported that are receiving a message from the telecom operator warning them of such calls.
The message sent by the company reads, “While receiving international call, if an Indian number or no number us displayed on your phone, please inform on toll free number 1800-110-420 or 1963.”
The two helpline numbers mentioned above were launched by the government last year. At the time of the launch the government asked all the telecom service providers to use them for reporting unsolicited calls so that the a legal action can be taken against any such activity. It has also been mentioned that Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) exchanges are used for criminal activities and each year a many such exchanges are unearthed by the government.
A government data also mentions that Andhra Pradesh had a maximum of 11 illegal exchanges in 2016- 17 and nil in 2017-18. On the other hand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh had a maximum of six illegal exchanges in 2017-18, followed by Maharashtra and Kerala having with two illegal exchanges and one was reported in Odisha. All these exchanges were unearthed in Delhi last year.
Talking about international calls, Vodafone recently increased the prices of its international postpaid plans — iRoamFree. The iRoamFree plans of the telecom operator offers unlimited data and calling facility in 20 countries with limited data and free incoming calls in 46 countries. So, in case you are planning to travel abroad then you have to shell out more money for the same plan. The telecom operator offers four plans starting Rs 500.
